A Mexican Flood Folly

Mention the phrase, "catastrophic floods" and "mass floodings" when it comes to studying dinosaur fossil beds and you'll get the creationists going in their blind efforts to prove to everyone that the "evolutionists" have inadvertently found new evidence to support the Great Flood of Noah while throwing out the real evidence pointing to large local floodings similar to what you see on the Weather Channel. Every fossil discovery formed by ancient flash floods and storms in the creationists' eyes all has Noah's Flood written all over it. We know that creationists reach this same conclusion over and over again to defend their distortions of the Bible while ignoring real evidence of the exact opposite continuously being uncovered in huge biblical proportions. The latest in their crap comes from this article made up in direct response to the discovery of Velafrons, a duckbill dinosaur with holes on the sides of its Corythosaur-like crest, entitled "New evidence of Noah's Flood from Mexico" where its author, as usual, claims that scientists have found "new" evidence— albeit, new false evidence of Noah's Flood while ignoring the true evidence of the exact opposite. The first part of the article claims that a team of scientists from the Utah Museum of Natural History have unveiled "one of the [sic] casualties of that event (Noah's Flood),.." whom they called Velafrons coahuilensis and asserts,

"The team, of course, did not report the evidence within a Flood framework. So, although the team hopes the find will give fresh insights into the ancient environments of western North America, they have not considered the most important factor-Noah's Flood. It's a bit like trying to explain the history of Europe without reference to the Second World War."

They have a good reason why they have not considered Noah's Flood, nor report their findings within the imaginary Flood framework— there's no evidence for it. Plus, since when are they're told to consider such findings as "Flood deposits" or better yet, "Flood Follies?" To a creationists' eyes, however, every evidences of ancient rivers, lakes, inland seaways, coastal beaches, localized flash flooding areas, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis points to Noah's Flood, never mind the real, major problems associating with this suppose global event such as the evidence for scavenging, burrowing, dung, eggs, and footprints that were buried and preserved on the spot. The next 2 paragraphs tries to explain the formation of the sediments that helped to create the Cerro del Pueblo Formation and the dinosaur, marine, and plant fossils that were found in the area such as ceratopsians, tyrannosaurs, dromaeosaurs, snails, turtles, and fruit. Just like in all their 'Flood Follies," while making direct response to discoveries of fossils in and around ancient flood plains and river beds, creationists would ask this trick question, "What happened?" and other similar questions and make believe that the scientists are just making up plausible explanations to explain the fossils by concluding that the fossils were of plants and animals that have died in powerful torms that occur frequently in the area.

"Perhaps, they said, the storms were like the storms that occur around the southern tips of Africa and South America today. But storms in these areas do not kill and bury entire herds of animals, such as crocs, along with fish, and lizards, shells, wood and leaves. Such storms do not preserve the remains of such creatures in animal graveyards buried in metre-thick layers of mud and sand."

Oh, yes they can. Think of how many lives are lost in such storms each year. Think of how many times so many thousands of people have to be evacuated from their villages every time the rainy season starts. Think of how many homes that are washed away by the floods. Think of how many pets the people are forced to leave behind to face their watery grave as their owners flee to seek higher, dryer grounds. Just as creationists can't say that there was no death and suffering before the Fall when there was death and suffering among the plant kingdom, creationists can't say that such storms don't kill and bury large amounts of plant debris, homes, people, animals in huge amount of layers while all this is happening today as I speak. There are huge amounts of worldwide news reports of flooding events occurring in Flood prone areas such as China, South America, Africa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Utah, Colorado, Haiti, and Hawaii where people, animals, and homes are being destroyed by mass floodings that gradually cover the area with sediment layers year after year after year. Similar events like this must have likely occurred annually in the area Velafrons once lived. Just like today in South America and in South Africa, many plants and animals that lived 75 million years ago have been killed by huge rainstorms that once pummel the area year after year after year during wet seasons. That's the real explanation behind all those animal graveyards that were formed by huge thick layers of mud and sand. In no way can this be a one-time, big event or else there would have been no foot tracks, depicting dinosaurs walking calmly instead of running around scared of rising floodwaters, and no burrows being made by small marine animals existing in such areas. Thus, making it no reason for anyone to believe, accept, and conclude that Noah's Flood caused all those fossil beds and no reason to resort to Noah's Flood to explain fossil beds when one can see even burrows and walking dinosaur tracks all around that poses huge problems with the worldwide flood.

Creationists, unfortunately, are without reason. When it comes to burrows, all they can do is used their imaginary biblical framework to pretend they are nothing more than (get this) "dewatering tubes" made to drain the water from the Earth's surface as claimed in the summary located underneath the formation's diagram. This is obviously one of their most idiotic ways to explain where have all the Flood waters gone after forty days and nights of rain. The dewatering tube explanation won't work. The "tubes" are way much too small for draining billions of tons of water from the Earth's surface; many of them are build in a network of maze-like patterns with dead ends in them where the burrowing animals can either go in to rest, raise their young in safety, or use it as a trap to ambush and catch their prey. Thus, regarding the burrows as "dewatering tubes" is entirely worthless. As if they're still believing that the earth is hollow despite the fact that it's not…
