AiG fleece people for money!

In January of 2010, I woke up in the morning to turn on the TV only to find news channels showing moving, graphic videos and images of the aftermath of a devastating 7.0 earthquake that shook the capital city of Haiti evening before 5:00 EST on January 12th. I'm very emotionally moved by what's going on over there and I extend my deepest condolences to all of the victims of the earthquake. I strongly encourage everyone to do what you can to help with the relief efforts and pray for the victims and survivors of this terrible catastrophe. As I watch the news, I couldn't help thinking to myself that there are so-called ministries and organizations out there who take advantage of the sufferings of people, especially the sufferings of the earthquake victims to try to fleece people for money to spend on themselves rather than use the money to give relief to victims of disaster, including the victims of the Haitian Earthquake. And Ham and his cronies at "Answers" in Genesis is in fact one of them.

From the old Laelaps blog: "Sometimes I wonder about “creation apologetic ministries” like AiG and CMI; with all the pain, suffering, and problems in the world, why spend so much time and effort combating evolution? Indeed, someone recently asked AiG why they saw it fit to spend $27,000,000 on a creation museum rather than funneling that money into ministries that will actually help people in need, and here’s what the brain trust over there had to say in reply;

And you think their salvation from this sin-cursed world through Jesus Christ is not a worthy need? This is what the Creation Museum is all about. We are not here to merely teach that God’s Word is true about creation, but to see people saved. It appears that priorities need to be sorted out:

Mark 8:36 “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

“This is precisely the problem I have with so much evangelical and missionary work; being “saved” is more important than actually getting the help you need, and if you just believe in God, then everything will be ok (and if you don’t you may or may not get help). How many of the poor or needy are ever going to step foot in the creation museum? What about the majority of the world population who will never even step foot in America, much less take time to see Ken Ham’s fantasy-world realized? Even if I agreed that salvation is more important than caring for people who need help (actually I don’t), there are better ways to do it than lying to people about the age of the earth, dinosaurs, evolution, etc."

More here.

It seems this is more important than helping victims of disasters according to AiG, which just comes to show how it is not worth giving them money, for they squandered it on themselves rather than squander it on what's really important in this world. Especially when it comes to what's going on in Haiti. On Ham's idiot site there is a section where Ham encourages people to "pray" for things to add more to the ministry and the crackhouse. Pray for cash they need to horde so they can use it to do maintenance, expand their facility, add more and more to their bankrupt crackhouse such as their idiot Ark Lark theme park, never mind the people in places like Haiti that truly need it to get food, clean water, medical attention, a place to stay, and to rebuild their homes and their lives. Folks, this is the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. Ham, his cronies, and the other so-called ministries that only horde money for themselves don't need cash and support. Haitians do. Therefore, it is better to give support to Haiti and the earthquake victims than fatten up Ham's pocketbooks. Especially when Ham's pocketbooks is fattened up already. Here's where to go to extend you hand in helping the earthquake victims get themselves back on their feet again.
