Are dinosaurs real? Of course, they're real! There's no denying the fact they exist due to multiple discoveries of fossils that confirms them to exist. Creationists knew this, too. So to fit them into their beliefs, they imagine them living alongside humans and perishing in the Flood. Do we have physical even biblical evidence for such a scenario? The answer is flat-out "No." There's no evidence of any kind, not even biblical evidence, for dinosaurs existing with humans. But creationists as usual begs to differ and make up all sorts of idiot explanations that has no merit, no foundation, no evidence, and plenty of stupidity and ignorance all around, such as this creationist site coming from Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) where we find a page in the Youth Discipleship section that tackles the issue of dinosaurs in a very delusional way. What this page shows is an example of how the webmaster knows nothing of dinosaurs and how he doesn't know how foolish it is to look to the Bible for answers that's not there. The Bible was written at the time dinosaurs and other prehistoric life are completely unknown to mankind. And you wonder why children are failing science class in school.
To answer the question, "Are Dinosaurs Real?" the author of the article claims,
"We are told in the Word of God that Noah took male and female of every kind on his boat…How could he have possibly taken two dinosaurs? When did they really exist? Don't the bones that they find prove they did exist?"
Dinosaurs did exist at one time, but were long dead by the time humans came along. Noah only took two of every kind of modern dinosaur we called "a bird" into the ark. Birds are modern dinosaurs and are the only dinosaurs to have ever lived with man, walked with Adam in the garden of Eden, went up into the ark, etc. while all the rest died out 65 million years ago. The next paragraph admits the word "dinosaur" is not found in the bible. Neither are dinosaurs like Apatosaurus and T.rex found in the Bible, too. However,
"That is not too surprising when we remember that the word dinosaur was a new word to the English language. About a 150 years ago, the word dinosaur began to describe some of the fantastic bones and fossils then being dug up for the first time. The word is derived from Greek word means "terrible lizards." Although dinosaur is not mentioned in the Bible, that does not mean that the Bible denies that such huge creatures once existed."
If the Bible doesn't deny that, then why is the Bible silent on the issue? Answer: Back at the time when the Bible was written, people knew completely nothing of dinosaurs, but they do know about mythology and how mythology a lot of time feature fantastic animals, such as the unicorn and dragon that don't exist, yet back then people thought these animals were real. Among these mythological animals are fish and bovine monsters of Jewish Folklore known as Behemoth and Leviathan, two monsters creationists stupidly regard as dinosaurs while being ignorant of dinosaurs having none of the features the two gigantic monsters have such as phallus and naval, fiery breath and coiling, serpentine body. These monsters are described as "larger than elephants or crocodiles, perhaps even dinosaurs" yet unlike elephants, dinosaurs, and crocodiles, these two monsters are supernatural beings that are likely indeed bigger than elephants, crocodiles, and dinosaurs. These monster were created on the 5th and 6th days of Creation Week and are destined to battle one another at the end of the world before God intervenes to kill them both and use their remains for food and clothing for His people.
Out of complete ignorance of physical evidence for a world that's billions of years old with a huge 60 million year gap lying between the Mesozoic and the Pliocene rock layers in the fossil record, the author simply asserts that dinosaurs and people once co-existed because
"The Lord God created all things in six days, with man being created on the sixth day."
and that
"There was no time period of millions of years when the dinosaurs reigned (in parentheses) before humans came on the earth."
Rather, there was no time period of thousands of years when humans and dinosaurs, let alone all other organisms, live at the same time. The world would have been indeed way too crowded if all organisms live at the same time, never giving themselves a chance to live out their lives without overcompeting with one another for food, water, and space. The next paragraph deals with why did God created the dinosaurs by asserting they were there to be God's "lawnmowers."
"Before the fall into sin (Adam and Eve), all creatures were perfect. There was no fear or terror in the perfect creation. We can understand how the Lord might have created huge creatures to feed on vegetation that grew so lushly and reproduced so quickly in the perfect creation. Perhaps God used dinosaurs as his 'lawnmowers' in that pre-flood world. There is so much we don't know, for the Scripture doesn't describe in detail earth's conditions."
These so-called "lawnmowers," assuming that all organisms were once vegetarians before the Fall (Never mind the utmost failure to explain why did God made some animals to be only flesh-eaters if he desired such animals to eat only vegetation to begin with.), would give plants no chance of ever thriving even when they grow fast and abundantly in the mythical pre-Flood world. Some plants grow much more slower than others. Some will only grow in remote places where conditions are just right for them and nowhere else. Some are delicate and can only survive on very little substance while other take years and years to grow. Herbivores are highly destructive towards the plant kingdom which kinda contradicts the notion of pre-Fall animals being "no fear or terror in the perfect creation," don't you think? If you're a plant among such "lawnmowers," you will have a huge reason to be in fear and in terror of being mauled to death by those sickly-sweet veggie eaters.
The author admits the Bible only gives out instructions on how to achieve eternal life and never bothered to mention what life was really like before the Flood in detail, if such a world ever exist at all. However, the author simply asserts that after Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit,
"…creation was also infected and things changed. (See Romans 8:20-22) Indeed, after the flood we read that God placed the fear and dread of humans into the animals. (Genesis 9:2)"
Never mind the fact that the verse only implies to the creature/creation that have never heard of the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ, see the Wycliffe Bible for a different translation of the 2 verses that makes more sense than the KJV), and that not all animals fear man. Dinosaurs never feared humans. There were no humans to fear when dinosaurs were alive millions of years ago. There were no dinosaurs for humans to fear either. 65 million years ago, the dinosaurs died out, never to see, fear, or know any man at all. Only their avian descendants called "birds" survive to know, see, and even fear man and his ways of destroying them and their habitats for personal gain.
The next section is the Flood Folly that claims,
"Were dinosaurs on the ark? If dinosaurs were still in existence at the time of the flood, then a male and female would have been aboard. Again, though, remember that Scripture is silent about the details. The Bible does not say that fully grown adults had to be the pair for each animal group. Perhaps very young "dinosaur children" were taken. Perhaps during the time on the flood the Lord allowed the creatures to go into a type of hibernation."
All these claims mention in the paragraph are highly flawed and said out of ignorance of the fact that Noah has to take in male and female of every kind of animals that are full-grown and sexually matured. God wanted such animals into the ark to be kept alive and reproduce just as soon as they leave the ark after the Flood ended. Also, only a few small animals hibernate. Hibernation is done by lowering metabolism, activity, and body temperature to conserve energy when the weather becomes real cold and and daylight become real short. Hibernation is a highly risky thing to do in which many of the animals that hibernate do not survive after spring has arrived. Bears are said to hibernate, but they don't really experience true hibernation. Their body temperature and metabolism stay exactly the same and can easily be aroused when disturbed. True hibernators don't feel a thing when disturbed because their metabolism and body temperature are much too low for them to be actively aware of their surroundings.
Ironically, The author is correct when he mentions that these are not meant to be the perfect answer to explain dinosaurs (they're not really factual answers to begin with), the author just asserts that this is one of the many empty miraculous ways "our powerful and gracious God can accomplish his will" without giving any implications of the massive problems associated with such "answers."
The rest of the article parades the dinosaurs becoming extinct after the Flood claim which contradicts God's will of having the animals rescued to be kept alive after the Flood which is claimed falsely to be responsible for the formation of fossils, oil deposits, etc. Creationists, whether they admit this or not, are highly aware of the fossil record, oil deposits, coal, and other materials having no evidence of the Flood being responsible for the formation of all of them. So creationists, like Ken Ham and AiG his cronies, used their imaginations and pretend that perhaps some materials in the ground were formed after the flood, perhaps during the time the tower of Babel or during the "days of Peleg" did these things occurred. But none of the creationists can explain how these so-called "post-flood" fossils are formed without experiencing rapid burials by "the catastrophe of the flood." Creationists constantly claimed that all fossils are formed by "the catastrophe of the flood," yet turn around and claim that some fossils are post-flood burials formed by non-catastrophical burials— a direct contradiction to the infamous claim that says all fossils are formed by being rapidly buried by violent waters of Noah's Flood and a direct example of creationist claim contradicting creationist claim and of mindless creationists who willfully bends the truth and cause people doubt the real Biblical truth, make "skeptics turn a deaf ear to the Bible's truth," and engross in sheer ignorance of how fossils really formed based on factual evidence and how such conclusions are not to be trusted and taken as their word.
The real explanation behind the extinction of the dinosaurs is likely the combination of the formation of the Deccan Traps and the meteorite that crashed landed on earth 65 million years ago, forming the Chicxulub crater and causing 75% of life on Earth to be wiped out, including all non-avian dinosaurs.
