Michael Oard, of the infamous Creation Ministries International (CMI), is very troubled by the huge amounts of gastroliths trapped within many dinosaur remains found especially at the Morrison Formation in areas of Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. Especially in many sauropod remains such as the remains of Diplodocus hallorum, (formally Seismosaurus) which are found with 240 gastroliths dotting much of the chest area of the skeleton. He was even more troubled when he discovered that one of many of fossil sites he visited in Wyoming, known as the Cloverly Formation, has tons more of such smooth stones littering the area that's been long thought to be gastroliths— at least until recently when it is discovered that the so-called gastroliths are actually just clasts, stones made up of quartz, quartzite, and cherts that was broken off from larger rocks and transported for a short distance by rivers and steams that also shaped them into smooth, polish stones in which some of them became trapped inside some of the dinosaur carcasses before they were fossilized.
According to Oard's latest article where after he gave a lowdown on what gastroliths are, he reminisces about a trip he made to Wyoming where he found some of the gastrolith stones (Doesn't he ever know they are actually clasts to begin with?) after looking around for about an hour and then adds,
"If I can find several after a quick search, there must be billions of these so-called ‘gastroliths’ in the ‘late Jurassic’ Morrison Formation. Since few gastroliths are associated with dinosaur bones, the Flood would have had to pulverize tens of millions of dinosaurs just in the Morrison Formation to account for so many gastroliths,.."
There would have been no dinosaur fossils at all found if the Flood did came and pulverize into oblivion all the clasts and all the dinosaurs, and all other organisms living especially in areas of what is now the Morrison and the Cloverly Formations of the western states of Utah and Wyoming.
"…if that is what they are. How could such a feat be accomplished in a short period of time within the Flood?"
Answer: "It can't." The fast-moving, 200 MPH, violent, one-year Flood Folly would've never accomplish such a feat the way a normal, gradual water flow can. Even Garner et al. himself affirms these stones to be a stumbling block to the Flood Model. Still, it doesn't stop Oard from making up false explanations in hopes of fitting them into his Flood Folly which he can't.
Much of the article points to two things Oard believes to be problems associating with the notion of the smooth stones coming from the dinosaurs' guts. First explanation involves an experiment performed on farm ostriches that were given limestone, rose quartz and granite as food before they were slaughtered and cut opened to reveal the rocks they swallowed to be dissolving quickly, not smooth and polished like the clasts in the formation that were smoothed and polished by the flow of water.
Although there's no evidence of sauropods having gastric mills inside their bodies and the stones inside the ostriches were worn away by the digestive juices in their gastric mills, there's still no reason to reject the idea that dinosaurs swallow stones to help grind their food. Especially when sauropods either swallow the stones by accident or purposely swallow them for mineral intake.
The second alleged problem Oard mentions is an article that, according to Oard, claims that the gastroliths from the ‘Lower Cretaceous’ Cloverly Formation of Wyoming are not gastroliths at all. They're clasts, Oard!. Clastic rocks made up of quartz, quartzite, and cherts gradually broken off from pre-existing rock and transported down a river just as mentioned before. In Oard's reasoning, since these so-called gastroliths are really not what others think they are, then this gives him the reason to make up lies about the clastic rocks in the conclusion of his article,
"In the Flood, several options are available that would allow the transport of the rounded rocks for 200 to 400 km. It could have been any type of underwater bottom-hugging mass flow aided by strong currents flowing to the east."
There would have been no bottom hugging flow with all that violent Floodwaters splashing about and the rocks being shaken-up and dissolved like the rocks in the ostrich's body if the Global Flood occurred. Honestly, you don't need such a fast-moving, violent Flood to smooth, polish, and transport clasts anywhere where a normal river and stream flow can do all that. He made a brief description of the quartzites also found in the Cloverly Formation before finally concluding that he was very disappointed when he found that the stones he gathered were not dinosaur gizzard stones— he only collected clasts instead.
