Rick Warren is pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California and the author of The Purpose Driven Life, a Christian book bestseller which inspired many people to be strong in their faith in God and his other book The Purpose Driven Church help many churches become a strong, well organized church.
So why is he spewing out incredible nonsense like this?
"The Bible tells in Genesis 1 that God made the world in seven days, and that he made all of the animals on the fifth day and the sixth day. All of the animals were created at the same time, so they all walked the earth at the same time. I know that the pictures we all grew up with in the movies were that dinosaurs roamed a lifeless, volcanic planet. Remember these are just pictures drawn by someone today! The Bible's picture is that dinosaurs and man lived together on the earth, an earth that was filled with vegetation and beauty."
Any idiot will believe that! The truth is that dinosaurs lived in all sorts of environments, including areas "filled with vegetation and beauty" as well as volcanic areas that's anything but lifeless. Other than birds, dinosaurs never lived with humans. If all the animals were created at the same time, the world would have been a severely overcrowded place with no space or elbow room to move about at all.
Definitely another example of a creationist, especially the author of The Purpose Driven Series, getting every part about dinosaurs completely wrong while ignoring all the flaws and mistakes made behind the claims. Yes, sorry to say, Rick Warren is a young earth creationist no different Ken Ham, Sarah Palin, Kent Hovind, and the rest of the creationists who spew out stupid lies and out-right falsehoods even in the face of evidence against their beliefs. He's even the one responsible for being caught lying about no mentioning of the words "Incest" or "Pedophilia"
Last Sunday, Rick Warren recorded a video for his congregation in which he denies ever comparing gay marriages to incest or pedophilia:
"I have been accused of equating gay partnerships with incest and pedophila. Now, of course as members of Saddleback Church, you know I believe no such thing, I never have. You've never once heard me in thirty years talk that way about that."
But Rachel Maddow shows that he made exactly that comparison:
"I'm opposed to having a brother and sister be together and call that marriage. I'm opposed to an older guy marrying a child and calling that a marriage. I'm opposed to one guy having multiple wives and calling that marriage."
Q. Do you think those are equivalent to gays getting married?
"Oh, I do!"
I agree that Barack Obama could've chosen a better pastor for the inauguration than Rick, but he did it anyway just to show to everyone that America can be a united nation despite being divided over opinions no one agrees/disagrees with.
Freethought and Rationalism Database (Formally Internet Infidel Discussion Board) did a thread which shows an unabridged version of the quote Rick Warren made about dinosaurs above. What is shown in the last post is an abridged version of the quote. The unabridged version is a direct result of Warren parroting the same lies and stupidity the likes of Ken Ham, Kent Hovind, want him to parrot mindlessly.
Here's the full version of the quote closely examined and debunked by yours truly.
As mentioned before, Any idiot will believe that! This "All of the animals were created at the same time, so they all walked the earth at the same time" statement not only contradicts the Genesis 1:20-22 and 1:24-25 passages which tells of all animals being created on 2 separate days, it also contradicts the fossil record which clearly tells us that not all animals (including dinosaurs) lived at the same time.
"What happened to the dinosaurs? The scientific record lets us know that they obviously became extinct through some kind of cataclysmic event on the earth. Many scientists theorize that this may have been an asteroid striking the earth, while many Christians wonder if this event could have been the worldwide flood in Noah's day. No one can know for certain what this event was."
This is kind of confusing. The first statement contradicts the second statement that are at odds with the first statement due to the second statement being made up out of empty faith and complete ignorance of total lack of evidence for Noah's Flood being the cause of extinctions of all prehistoric life.
"Although it cannot be stated with certainty, it appears that dinosaurs may have actually been mentioned in the Bible."
Only birds. Nothing else.
"The Bible uses names like "behemoth" and "tannin." Behemoth means kingly, gigantic beasts. Tannin is a term that includes dragon-like animals and the great sea creatures such as whales, giant squid, and marine reptiles like the plesiosaurs that may have become extinct."
Wrong on both claims, Warren. Behemoth literally means "dumb beast" and tannin literally describes only "serpent" or "sea monster" that have completely zero to do with plesiosaurs "that may have become extinct" and other dinosaur contemporaries that lived in the sea while dinosaurs ruled the land millions of years ago.
See This Is Not About Dinosaurs to get the real truth behind the creationist claims behind the "Tannin" verses.
"The Bible's best description of a dinosaur-like animal is in Job chapter 40. We don't know for certain if these are actually dinosaurs or are some other large creatures that became extinct."
Behemoth is in fact a supernatural creature. In no way is Behemoth a physical creature. Not even a dinosaur.
"This should not sound so strange. After all, God tells us that he created all the land animals on the sixth day of creation, the same day that he created mankind. Man and dinosaurs lived at the same time. There was never a time when dinosaurs ruled the earth. From the very beginning of creation, God gave man dominion over all that was made, even over the dinosaurs."
Well lied, Warren. Even in the face of all historical, fossil, and archaeological records being completely void of dinosaurs and humans together, you sure have no shame in spitting such lies in front of your followers including..
"Man and dinosaurs lived at the same time."
and..
"There was never a time when dinosaurs ruled the earth"
and..
"God gave man dominion over all that was made, even over the dinosaurs."
and above all..
"I have been accused of equating gay partnerships with incest and pedophila. Now, of course as members of Saddleback Church, you know I believe no such thing, I never have. You've never once heard me in thirty years talk that way about that."
And you were such a great preacher behind the Purpose Driven Series once..
"For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day." Exodus 20:11
"All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made." John 1:3
This neither make the concept of life changing over time (evolution) false, nor does the evidence for evolution and "long ages" disappear. Quoting such verses only makes the likes of you be in complete state of denial.
"Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feed on grass like an ox. What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly! His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron. He ranks first among the works of God." Job 40:15-19 (NIV)"
Take a look at The Truth About Behemoth and you'll find out what Behemoth really was. Hint: He's anything BUT a dinosaur.
And there you have it. Warren being completely no different than the likes of Sarah Palin, who one time was asked by David Talbot of Salon magazine about her stance in dinosaurs.
"I pushed her on the earth's creation, whether it was really less than 7,000 years old and whether dinosaurs and humans walked the earth at the same time. And she said yes, she'd seen images somewhere of dinosaur fossils with human footprints in them."
A totally stupid crank if I do say so myself. There's no human footprints found in dinosaur fossils. There are claims about humans footprints found alongside dinosaur prints but they are all ruled as fakes. These supposed human prints are poorly preserved dinosaur prints carved into human prints. Some of such prints are outright fakes all together. In fact, all fossils of dinosaurs and humans together are outright frauds. But that doesn't stop the likes of Palin, Ham, Hovind, and especially Rick Warren from spewing out senseless lies about dinosaurs and evolution even in the face of what the scientific evidence clearly say about the earth's prehistoric past.
